Andrew Hoang

The David Chow Humanitarian 2021 Award

During 2020, inspired by the need to address a global shortage of Nitrile medical gloves and to create lost jobs, Alka Products LLC founder, Andrew Hoang had the ambitious vision to venture towards establishing one of the first examination glove manufacturers, based in the UnitedStates. As a son of immigrant parents, Andrew’s main goal has been to give back to the country that he feels passionate about and has given to him and his family. Andrew used the census-tract unemployment data, to find a qualified Project Site within a geographic location with a “high unemployment area” classification basedon the latest “American Community Survey’s five-year data census-tract calculationmethodology”. Through this, they landed the ideal site in Pahrump, Nevada and have started the foundations to build the Alka Gloves Manufacturing Facility. This project gave Andrew his main mission which was not only meant to uplift the surrounding communities in Pahrump, Nevada by creating jobs and bringing other numerous business opportunities from afar. As a business leader in Orange County,California, Andrew has been involved not only with the Vietnamese American Community but with many other communities such as the Filipino-American Community, the Korean-American Community, The Chinese-American Community and many more. The manufacture of the essential Nitrile powder free examination gloves and Latex gloves in the Alka Products Manufacturing Facility assures us all that it will be readily available on the ground for purchase in a shorter amount of time and the best reason is,that this product need not be shipped from abroad, because to fulfill Andrew’s ultimate dream…the products made in his facility will now proudly be… “Made in the USA”. Andrew’s interaction with several Asian American communities has provided opportunities for him to extend his charitable spirit and philanthropy specifically with the Vietnamese American communities in Orange County. He has had huge collaborations and business partnerships with the Philippine American Communities as well, where his charitable nature has been recognized in the past 7 years, some with the notable ABS-CBN International for abused children and most recently in collaboration with the Vina Lelim Foundation to feed the Homeless of LA and an orphanage in the Philippines, where he received a certificate of recognition from the Office of Mayor Garcetti of LA for his philanthropic support.
